Bridge2Hope is an Illinois not-for-profit organization founded by the parents of young adults with developmental disabilities. After years of being told that obtaining funding for our children for adult service programming would be a next to impossible feat and then witnessing many friends graduate from school age programming into an unfunded future, we decided we needed to do something to help. We realize we are only a drop in the bucket, but if we can help one person, then at least we have made a difference in that person’s life. Our goal, however, is to help many.

Part of our mission is to provide grants that will enable an individual, who qualifies for Medicaid Waiver funding but is unable to obtain it due to state budget limitations, to transition from school age programming into adult service programming. Our hope is that there will not be a delay in services for these individuals, as we believe that this delay causes a significant loss of skills for the individual, and a potential family hardship in trying to care for the individual at home during the hours that he or she would be in programming. 

This past year we have been able to help fund two individuals in adult day programming. These individuals both graduated from school age programming with no state funding in place for adult services. Both were able to transition without delay and are doing very well in their programs. Both families have been able to function without the need to make provisions for at home care during the workday for their adult child. 

We are an all-volunteer organization and rely on private donations and public funds to meet our mission. We work very hard to ensure that every donation earned goes to the individuals that we are serving.
